The Sounds and Music of Palisades

Take Me Up To Palisades Park
(1911 version) • words and music by Santa Goldblatt and Henry Bauch • (c)1911 Maurice Shapiro

Joe said to Flo "Where shall we go,
To spend a pleasant day?
We've been to Fort George and Coney Isle,
Midland and South Beach can wait a while."

Flo said "That's true... for something new,
How will a trip to the Jersey shore do?"
"There's one place rare, let us go there.
It's the Garden of Eden up in the air."

Take me up to Palisade Park
The one place to go when you're out for a lark.
I'm dying to ride on the coaster,
That we saw advertised on the poster.
And after we've been on the big ferris wheel,
Let's go for a spin in the automobile.
When we get home at dark you can bet I'll remark,
"Please take me next Sunday to Palisade Park."

They arrived there... a happy pair,
Tried ev'ry thing they saw.
Joe said "My love I'll no longer hide,
Tell me dear Flo that you'll be my bride."

Flo said "I guess, I must confess,
I've waited for you my answer is 'Yes!'
Just get the ring, you're the real thing.
He gently caressed her and started to sing.

And after we've been on the big ferris wheel,
