Ann Reeves was born in Newark, NJ and grew up in
Parsippany, NJ. She began to illustrate her own stories at the age of
four. Upon graduating from Boonton High School, she received a certificate
of merit from FINE ART GALLERIES of CARNEGIE INSTITUTE. She attended
McDOWELL SCHOOL of FASHION DESIGN in MANHATTAN. Ann worked for a time in
the fashion industry.
Next was a family and Ann dedicated the next thirty years
to raising her four daughters. Once the girls were grown, Ann was free to
pursue her artist interests.
Much of Ann’s artwork has won acclaim from many
organizations. Her painting entitled "HELPING HAND" was selected
by Trenton Artists Workshop to tour Russia in 1990. In June 1991 she was
awarded a certificate of merit by Pavilion Art Gallery in Mt Holly, NJ. In
October 1991 Ann was selected by Warren County New Jersey for their annual
COUNTY PRIDE AWARD. A REGIONAL FELLOWSHIP IN PAINTING from MID-ATLANTIC /
NATIONAL ENDOWMENT OF THE ARTS was awarded in 1994. Her oil painting
"BERLIN WALL COMES DOWN" has a permanent home in the "DEUTSHES
HISTORISHES MUSEUM" in Berlin, Germany. In 1995 her art was exhibited
in a "ONE ARTIST SHOW" at the International Testing Service
Headquarters in Princeton, NJ. She received honorable mention in a
Tri-State art show at the ROCKLAND CENTER for THE PERFORMING ARTS,
Nyack,NY. In 1996 she was honored to be the first ONE ARTIST SHOW
sponsored by WARREN COUNTY CULTURAL and HERITAGE COMMISSION 1997. Ann
received THE SMALL BUSINESS AWARD by The Hackettstown, NJ Chamber of
Commerce. She was commissioned by the ATLANTIC CITY CONVENTION CENTER
AUTHORITY to paint the city. Limited Edition Lithographs were produced and
distributed to the attendees of the grand opening of the new convention
center.
