Little Miss America Returns in 2005

The Office of Cultural Affairs in conjunction with the Recreation Department will sponsor Fort Lee's second annual "Little Miss America Contest" on Wednesday, September 7, 2005 at 7 p.m. at the new Fort Lee Community Center on Anderson Avenue. Girls between the ages of 5 and 10 years of age who are residents of Fort Lee will be eligible. The contest will be judged on talent, poise, and personality. The production will be produced and hosted by Jan LeWinter, the original producer, choreographer and host of the Little Miss America Pageants at Palisades Amusement Park. Interested participants must be the appropriate age by Wednesday, September 7th in order to be eligible. (Proof of age and residency will be required.) Performances must be limited to 1½ minutes or less. Twenty-five applicants will be selected to compete for Little Miss America 2005. All contestants will receive mementos for their participation. Little Miss America will receive a $500 savings bond. Runners-up will receive savings bonds in the amounts of $200 and $100 respectively. Applications will be available at the Recreation Office Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. beginning March 16th. Applications must be received by Friday, August 5th, 2005 in order to be considered. For further information, call the Recreation Department weekdays between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
